This year, the Sanlam HmC Fair has collaborated with ‘the prince of prints’, Chu Suwannapha, who is our 2016 Featured Designer.
Chu, a familiar face on the South African fashion scene with 25 years of experience to his name, will be bringing a new energy to HmC. His vibrant prints will dramatically alter the look and feel of the Hyde Park Corner rooftop. As his inspiration in creating the look came from two legendary African photographers – Malick Sidibé and Seydou Keïta – the aesthetic is perfectly in line with our Well Made in Africa theme.
‘This year we will bring forth unique embellishment and hues carrying the essence of indigenous prints. The level of sophistication will come with a marriage of the finest African prints with vintage elegance. We hope that in bringing an authentically African feel to the rooftop of Hyde Park Corner, we will create a unique experience for visitors,’ says Chu.
Expect to see his prints plastered all over the Hyde Park Corner rooftop over the weekend of 14-16 October, where his bold aesthetic will inject a unique energy into the Fair.
Tickets for the Sanlam Handmade Contemporary Fair are available for R90 via Webtickets or for R110 at the door.
